Free Activities for Young People

PEABODY’S Waltham Forest Youth Programme 

Chingford Youth Club (5 Ching Way, Chingford London E4 8YD) 

  • Monday 5pm-7pm, 8-12 years: various workshops which will be advertised and chill time where young people get to socialise while playing pool, table tennis, PS4 etc.
  • Wednesday 4pm-6pm, 8 years+: Multi-sports with Tottenham Hotspur. Young people take part in football and basketball drills and matches, dodge ball and healthy eating workshops.
  • Thursday 5pm-7pm, 8-12 years: Film Club were young people get to watch films and then review them online via ‘into film’. They can also take part in competitions and filming workshops.

On Thursday evenings in Chingford we’ve also introduced a youth club for children over 12. Here they can take part in a self-development programme called Break the Cycle. We’re also developing a radio station where young people can take part in radio broadcasting, editing, mixing, recording and journalism.

Leytonstone Youth Club (Langthorne Park Pavilion, London E11 4YG)

  • Thursday 5pm-7pm, 8 years+: Youth club consisting of various workshops (including the radio station) and chill time with games.

Leyton (100 Oliver Road, London E10 5YJ)

  • Friday 4pm-6pm, 8 years+: Leyton youth club is our latest club to open. It takes place at the Leyton Score building in partnership with Leyton Orient. Activities include chill time and various workshops such as developing a radio station. We’ll be introducing sporting activities soon.

Leaders Academy

Run a range of sessions that focus on the arts and dance activities. These sessions are based at Paradox Centre, 3 Ching Way, Chingford, E4 8YD.  

This includes: 

Every Term-time Monday 4.30-6.30 – Ages 9-15. Activities include: 

  • Studio room: Commercial street dance 
  • Reception: Chill out zone 
  • Hall: Cooking, drama, leadership activities, and food 

Every Term-time Friday 4-7pm – Ages 6-16. Activities include: 

  • Street Dance 

YMCA Youth Services 

YMCA Walthamstow Youth Services has a broad range of fun and informative activities for young people including sports and hair and beauty, workshops, trips, events and sexual health drop-in service.  

These are free drop-in sessions. There’s no need to book.

Space4All

WF Youth Hubs providing young people with a safe space to socialise and spend time in their neighbourhood. Activities include games, music and podcast production classes, crafts, cooking and food, indoor sports, homework club, and mentoring.  Most of the sessions are aimed at 11 to 25-year-olds, but also have some junior sessions for 9 to 12-year-olds.

  • Every Tuesday during the term time. Junior sessions in this location are for ages 9 to 12 years. Walthamstow Family Hub, 313 Billet Road, E17 5PX. 
  • Wednesdays 3.30-5.30pm, 11 – 16 yrs old, free entry, light refreshments provided. The Parish Church Hall of St Peter & St Paul, The Green Walk, Chingford, E4 7EN.  
  • YMCA Walthamstow: 6-8 pm every Wednesday, youth club for 11-19 yrs old (arts & crafts, board games, video games).

Musical Beacons

These are inclusive fun, musical play sessions for young children run by Soundcastle.  We explore musical instruments and singing and make our own music!  This group is about building confidence and connection to others.

2. Musical Beacons 1 to 1 sessions for families with disabled and neurodivergent early years children

  • 30 minute sessions offered at Leytonstone Toy Library on Tuesday afternoons
  • These are fun, playful sessions for one child/one family group.
  • They are ideal for children who struggle to take part in other group sessions.
  • These are free but you have to pre-register to attend.
