Volunteering

Age UK

Could you befriend an isolated older person, visiting them once a week for an hour, for a minimum of 6 weeks (phoning during the Covid lockdown)? Age UK Waltham Forest needs more people to volunteer as befrienders, especially people who speak an additional language as well as English.  If you are interested please:

Phone: 020 8558 5512

Volunteer training for English Conversation Clubs

Are you interested in volunteering?  Are you a confident English speaker? Have you got one or two hours spare each week?  Would you be interested in helping people improve their English speaking skills? Some of the clubs are in schools, children’s centres, places of worship and community centres around Waltham Forest, as well as online (Zoom).

We offer volunteers a 5-week FREE City and Guilds accredited training course (Level 3) to support adults who have English as a second language.  There is also an ongoing support and development programme for volunteers who complete the training and contribute to the running of a club.

Our courses run throughout the year.

If you are interested in becoming an English Conversation Club volunteer:
